TigerHawk/BEC-

Thanks for posting this info and providing the extra background on these units. Truly hard to believe a recording altimeter can be produced in such a small package.

Wow, a BT-5 'payload' tube can hold it!

So I went ahead and order the FlightSketch charger and their wall USB unit (when I travel, I carry my iPad only so no computer USB for Bunny).

An update on the state of the USPS. The altimeter and battery, which were ordered first, are still in transit, but the charger/USB port, ordered later, arrived today. Go figure.

Well because of that tiny LiPoly, the shipping box with it inside it has the big lithium battery warning sticker on it and I think that means they can't ship via passenger airliner (some US Mail flies commercially).

I got my box today, but ordered it (another Mini, another Comp, two LiPoly cells and a charger) all together. Considering the amount of bubble wrap inside the dedicated box inside the shipping box that tiny cell isn't going to be a threat to anyone....

added: I tried reading the USPS regs about lithium batteries but didn't find anything, there, about passenger flights vs. cargo flights. So much for that theory.

Any plans to ever make more? Chip shortage a problem?

Sold out. Looking forward to trying mine in a BT-5 two-stage for NRC B Altitude. The challenge will be seeing it at altitude and getting back.

Forever? That's what I'm asking. Looks like a great device that's dirt cheap.

The response from Russ Parrish at FlightSketch a mere 14 minutes after I emailed him on the subject which makes me think their customer support will be excellent. As I suspected, the worldwide electronics parts shortages is a factor:

"They will be back. There are still widespread shortages for parts and we've been buying up whatever we can find. We're close to being able to start on another lot. Hopefully within the next few months."
