When I was in school in Boulder, Big Head Todd and the Monsters were still a local band. Later they hit it fairly big. The other band I recall had the wonderful name Free Beer - a name guaranteed to lure in the unsuspecting when posted outside a bar!

I have Uriah Heep and Triumph on CD.

....and of course Boomtown Rats.

They're different.

There was this Detroit / Los Angeles Band Called the Knack. the Knack played around Detroit
for a few years ( late 70's ) then they got a record deal and went to LA.
This was great for them as their first Single went #1 all most world wide : MY SHARONA but this only lasted a few years.

When I was in college in Southern California, a local band was a big hit at local venues.

You may have heard of it; they named it after a couple of the founding members, the Van Halen brothers.

Bill,

First of all, it's been a while...

Eddie Van Halen was responsible for selling more Fender Stratocaster style guitars
than anyone. Hot bridge pickup, whammy bar that doesn't go out of tune,
and lots of red and white spray paint

Those guits are known as FrankenStrats...

He didn't invent the fingering techniques such as hammer on and pulling the
strings but he was the master.

Bob
p.s. his brother Alex is a favorite as drummer as well as Michael Anthony on bass.
p.p.s. the cover of You Really Got Me by the Kinks is Van Halen at their best. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X6e7uctAww

While some seem to enjoy Vinyl (for what reason I'll never accept) NOTHING beats infinite repeatability of clean digital recording.

That said, I do own an original near-mint copy of The Beatles "White" album which is quite valuable. Got it cheap too when many were selling off vinyl. Joanna and I have an original Rock-Ola 45rpm Vinyl Jukebox stuffed with vintage 70's/80's classics. It will NEVER be converted to CD. It sits next to the Pinball Machine, Slot Machine, United Shuffle-Alley Shuffleboard Bowling machine, and vintage Video Games in our basement game-room which looks like a small 80's vintage arcade. Lots of Neon signs/clocks too.

Lava Lamps . . . You MUST have Lava Lamps !
