Richard Branson’s/Virgin Galactic Space Flight Live Stream
For those who have an interest, Richard Branson’s trip to space will be streamed over the following link. Looks to be a YouTube Link. Space.com and others will probably be carrying a live stream too, I would think.
Link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RTpWYWIfP7Y So far, it seems there has been a bit of a delay this morning on the flight and coverage will begin at 10:30 eastern. Earl

Up, arc'ed into space, and now headed back down. All looks good so far.

Not worth the $$$ to me for a 15 minute flight.

Yes, down successfully.
It is s a brief flight profile no doubt. I guess for those who can even consider the cost, the cost is peanuts to them. I guess the industry has to start somewhere though. And in time -- like compared to 100 years ago and the cost of regular air flight then, when we had not even flown across the Atlantic -- costs and the 'general' access to space will hopefully come way down. And the idea of being an 'astronaut' in the future will be no more rare or unusual as a flight across the Atlantic in an aircraft is today. It's a start.... Earl

Its cool to see but lets face it: its just a plaything for the rich ($250,00/seat). It'll be decades before the common person get to experience something like this, IMO. The only thrill we can get is to hopefully hold their stock and watch the stock price soar!

Even if I had his money, I would much rather spend $250k on a Super Corvette or on jet fuel in the F-4 and F-16B I would definitely own.

Don't Forget the C-17 RV on Floats
Quote:
Those and a special built flying C-17 RV on floats. Might trade the F-4 for a F15. Anything that can go vertical and accelerate has to be worth flying... Mike |

They did have some issue with that. Really didn't care for the audio, but seeing everything up close would have been okay. Was surprised how fast it accelerated. Thought they were going to hit around 5,000mph, and go higher. Still would be a ride to experience. He ought to do a raffle for $20 tickets for one of the seats. I would buy a book of 5-each time he did it. Would make more than $250,000 per seat that way. Limited to 15,000 sold ($300,000) would net more than the $250,000 current seat price, which should pay for any expenses to run the raffle. Mike |
