I have noticed a change in the Starfire model I am also restoring. The fin semi span is about 3/8 inch wider than the plans on JimZ site. I also have a Centurion with a notch cut along the trailing edge of the fin near the root edge. In later kits, this was curved.
It may have been an attempt to use less balsa or just an aesthetic choice. Or perhaps, the die tooling dictated subtle changes in the shape of the fins. |

The rounded fins on Centurion look far better.
