R.I.P. Meatloaf
Marvin Aday a.k.a. Meatloaf—one of my all-time favorite rockers has died.
Meatloaf and the Neverland Express with the songs of Jim Stienman had a huge and wonderful effect on my life since the 1970’s. The great rockers are dying out—and with no one that could ever take their place. Thank you for all the hard rocking, driving, biking, dancing, and baby-making music.

We saw him at least twice, maybe three times. The first time was in Cleveland in one of the outdoor venues near then Jacobs Field, home of the then Indians. When the post game fireworks show started, our whole crowd turned to watch. Meat stopped the show and watched with us. Didn't miss a beat. We saw him last in 2016 and we were seriously worried about him then. He could only grunt and croak along to the music and seemed to be having trouble standing, but the show was great. His band and backing singers were fantastic. My wife caught a t-shirt. Well, caught is a bit strong. I saw it coming from the corner of my eye and got a hand on it. It fell to the floor next to her and she bent down and picked it up. No one else so much as flinched. It was for a tour a couple of years earlier, so I guess they were cleaning out the closets.

IIRC, he's had a couple of medical episodes on stage as well. The last time I saw some live footage, he couldn't stay on key and I'd bet it was because he was struggling physically.
I loved him in Roadie. That was a great "B" movie with Alice Cooper, Blondie, Hank Jr., Art Carney and more in it. I say great "B" movie...I saw it when I was a young teen. It probably wouldn't be great today.

I think one of them was just after the last concert we saw. I was shocked to see that he'd performed again since then.

I never got to see him in the late 1970’s—I was always at sea when he came to town. “The Vixen” and I finally saw him in July of 1994 right after “Bat Out of Hell II” came out. It was a great show, but I prefer the studio album. After that there were a lot of “stinkaroo” CD’s that lacked the writing of Jim Stienman until the the last one was released WITH Jim’s writing “Braver than we ever are”. I just got done listening to it and I just got done sniffling.

I think Steinman just passed last year. I downloaded a collection of his work a few years ago for Maria. Pretty wide ranging work.

You mean this? https://youtu.be/pMRl55U0eDw Personally, I didn't like his music. Paradise by the Dashboard Light was WAY overplayed. I hated that one the most.

Agree with Scott here wholeheartedly.
I did not care for his muSICK at all. I rate Queen worse though. They are the WORST band everrr.
