Exclamation New Design -- Azteca

From the attached RockSim 8 file:

Even though I aesthetically prefer rockets with 3 fins instead of 4, the deployment velocities on this design were just too high for my tastes. Adding a fourth fin added enough drag to slow this rocket down nicely.

I also initially used an 8" long ST-10 tube for the lower body, but bumped it up to ST-13 to provide additional drag, as well.

After the Tau Zero and the Zeta, this is the third of my designs to use the Semroc BC-760 "Tau Zero" nose cone."

Quick! For extra points, who can point out the common elements of those three model names? (No fair looking at the RockSim file first!)

Another design from the Creative Mind Of CenturiGuy®...

(Could an alternative name for it be "Tau 4F"?)

Seriously, though, it looks good, Jay!

I think you used the same fins on all three designs. Perhaps even the ST-13 lower main tube? All are 18mm?

*Now* you're just bein' silly.

Let me spell it out... literally.

Tau Zero. Take "ta" and "ze," swap their places, and voila... Zeta.

Take Zeta, shake well, and get "azte." Throw in the random letter "c," repeat one you've already used ("a")... and you get Azteca.

Believe me, I didn't *consciously* mean to do it!

(C'mon, Craig, I'm *sure* you probably looked at the "Comments" section. )

Thanks for playing, everybody!

Hmm... I'm *likin'* the sound of that. (Although Craig has apparently started referring to me as Jay "Tau Zero" Goemmer. )

Yes, it *could* be, at that.

Glad you like it, guys!

I'm beginning to discover that lots of the mindlessly simple 3- and 4NC designs may be really incredibly overpowered, and that would explain why (at least in *my* mind) some of them tend to shred chutes for no obviously apparent reason.

Case in point, the Centuri Chuter-Two (or "-2", if you prefer) using Semroc parts... and my ST-13-based 1.48X upscale with *much* nicer deployment velocities.

Cheers,

Comments? Urp...

You mean, you actually told me what to look for? (Scratching frantically through the digital files to look...) I'm supposed to actually...READ...those comments?

Ahh, well, yes, there they are! (Expression of genuine simulated surprise plastered across my face.) All spelled out and waiting for me, as if they were meant to be there...All along...

How about that...?

Ray,

Nope. Only that Dan Quayle boy. (Or was that Dan *Quail?*) And he wasn't from around here.

(This from the state that Dan Rather[?] described as having the nation's most Republican legislature. Sun Valley makes up for it by having the highest concentration of well-to-do Democrats.)

Actually, the only time we spell potato with an "e" at the end is when there's an "s" immediately following that particular "e."

For the record, if you shake a potato, it doesn't make a noise. Regardless of whether it's raw or baked.

And *especially* not if it's been mashed.

Cheers,

Jay, if you spin a raw potato on your table top and then stop it suddenly, does it start spinning again when you let go of it like a raw egg does?

Hmmm, now I'm thinking of a new NAR competition event: Potato lofting.
