Finally got the Bertha's side view video loaded. It went up on a C6-5. It recovered on a 12" chute, so it came down real fast. At the end, you will see why I like the little gum cam instead of the more expensive cameras recommended sometimes. A larger chute would have given a much more stable and slower descent, but it would have drifted way too far.

BTW, at the end you will also hear an airplane. We didn't see or hear it before the launch. When it came over, it was obvious why. The little bugger was very, very low...most likely below VFR rules because there is a water tower about a 1,000 yards up the road from us on a hill. It was scooting pretty fast too. By the time I got swung around to look, it was already past me and heading over the trees. I barely got a shot of it before it disappeared. Burt Rutan needs to add a Ju-87 Stuka siren to the EZ kits to give us some warning.

Long-EZ's are fast, for sure! A friend of mine used a Porsche 911 engine in his.
Great video, but I think I'm a tad seasick. Love that Tennessee countryside this time of year. BTW, it's Ju-87 Stuka, but I knew what you meant!
Thanks for the video and pics. You and Leo do nice work.

Oops. The Ju-88 was the twin bomber. <slap head emoticon>

It's been a while since I've seen any episodes of Wings of the Luftwaffe.

That's the Bertha's nosecone with the camera payload, btw.

Sensational photos (as always................don't know how you do it so consistently).

tbzep: Love the video, chuckeled over the tree branches ending.

Now for my big question. What sort of camera do you use? I never get good photos (unless you like smoke trails).

You probably have been asked before, I'must have missed it, or been asleep at the wheel or what ever....

But what's your secret, spill the beans.

How TBZEP gets his fantastic photographs: Nikon D80(IIRC) and LOTS of practice

I use a lower end DSLR, the Nikon D80. I shoot at 1/2000 or faster shutter speeds. I had pretty good photos on sunny days using the lens that came with the camera, but the faster lens I use now lets me shoot high shutter speeds on overcast days too.
