Hi Craig;

I can confirm that the fins on the #1937 Astro are 3/32" balsa.

Default Estes #0865 Mini Mean Machine & #1936 Sunbird - Fins

A two-fer...

This sheet was used in at least two kits - the Mini Mean Machine, and the Sunbird. My layout is a little tighter than the original.

Default Estes #1938 Laser, #1991 Zipper, #1991 Blue Star - Fins

A three-fer...

Same pattern as the original sheets. In the Laser, the long edge is the leading edge, and the grain follows it. In the Zipper and Blue Star, the fins are reversed (swept-forward), so the grain aligns with the trailing edge.

Thanks, John. At least part of my memory is intact...

Default Estes #1907 Cyclone, #1922 Marauder - Fins

Another two-fer...

Marauder uses the launch lug stand-offs; Cyclone does not.

Addendum: A new set of fins have been posted for the Firecat.

Default Estes #1278 Vigilante, #1295 Mean Machine, #1368 Comet, #1955 Ranger - Fins

This is at least a quad set, being used in at least four models. The scans between the Mean Machine and the Comet are slightly off-register, but only enough that it could have been differences in the scanners used. I'm calling them identical fin sets.

I think I tightened up the layout a bit from the original.

Default Estes #1292 Wizard - Fins

This sheet does not exactly match the original. I placed four fins on the sheet instead of three since there was plenty of room, and this gives the builder flexibility in using the fins for other designs.

Default Estes #1356 AstroBee, #1915 Harpoon - Fins

At least two kits, maybe one more.

Not the original layout, but maybe tighter.

Default Estes #1365 Sky-Hi - Fins

One sheet of four fins. To clone the kit, you need two sheets. The booster fins are reversed.

Default Estes #1367 Vindicator - Fins

Here's one for all those Interceptor kits sitting around, lonesome and unloved...

I've tightened up the layout to reduce waste. The original used what appears to be two 12" sheets of balsa, and I've cleaned that up to one 12" x 4" sheet, and one 6" x 4" sheet. Carl can get two full sets out of a single 36" sheet. These sheets are 3/32", as called out in the plans. You will still need a strip of 1/8" square stock for the cooling fin detail.
