The 55 AO has been available at BRS hobbies for quite some time now. It's a balsa version though. Bought some there myself.

Yay!! Another example of the 'new' Estes!

As an aside, I've noticed Estes rockets popping back up in RC Car shops (one here in Atlanta just had a Fathers Day rocket build), and even in Ace Hardware stores. I was even surprised to see not just RTF rockets at Fry's Electronics, but regular kits, including Big Daddy!

I can't say for absolute certain, but there seems to be an uptick of rocket activity as a result, much more than we saw when WalMart ruled the roost.

Fry's has kits now? Are they pretty good about getting the newest kits in? The other local shops have been rather uneven with the latest series. Time to go check out their rocket section again.

just a small selection, three or four, including Army Patriot and Big Daddy. Most offerings are boxed RTFs.

Ah, your Fry's just has C motors as well, I see.

I guess I need to drop in on the one here and take another look. It's close enough to walk to from my office (which is a dangerous thing, let me tell you!).

No, there's two other displays of rockets. One has a full complement of motors (1/2A to E) and stuff like wadding, extra parachutes, launch equipment, and the other kits. The third is mainly launch sets.

OH!

Here, at least the last time I looked, that C6-3/C6-5 "assortment" was all they had. I will have to go and look.
