I'm really taken with the NASA Pegasus model;
Here's Tim Sapp's upscale version: http://www.sappgeeks.com/rocket/peg...y/Pegasus_1.jpg

And here it is Monday at LDRS: http://www.libertylaunchsystems.com...ll/DSC_0382.JPG

That's an O-something-or-other research motor (fka EX).

I didn't fly anything so big, but did manage to 1) get my L2, 2) power prang a BT-70 upscale Midget, 3) fly a Comanche on a full D-C-C stack and 4) get really psyched about my next outing.

HO-LEE SCHLITZ!

Congrats on the L2 and sorry about the Midget prang. My next outing should be this weekend, and I'm also pretty jazzed. I finally finished the BT-80 Wizard that I started YEARS ago. Just an E-powered flight, but it's always nice to finish one that has been around long enough to house spiders. (Boy, are THEY gonna be surprised!)

I'm hoping to try mine on an E18-4 or an F24-4 this weekend.

(BTW, I mean the Scorpius is cool, not work. Work gives me hairballs.)

JSP and Bill, over on TRF, user Fore Check built a 266% upscale Scorpius in 2004.

Yeah, everyone that has that nosecone made seems to want it for an upscale Goblin.

Me too, of course. That's why I had 2 of them made.

[QUOTE=JRThro] Fore Check built a 266% upscale Scorpius in 2004.

Wow! That's beautiful....
Of course now I'm not sure if I'll do one...
I was looking at the Nebulon Warrior too. Do you know if anyone has done that one?

Can't say I've seen that one. Looks like it would upscale fairly nicely though.

Actually, it's the preferred abbreviation... there's a whole story there that I won't bore you with now.

That's how I tracked down the information on the body tubes. You can get your BT-20J, BT-50FE, and BT-55C (14" long) from SEMROC. Look under "Classic Body Tubes" (Scroll down below the Centuri ST- and LT- tubes).

You can also get a balsa equivalent for the nose cone from Semroc: BNC-55AO and Estes-sized centering rings, as well.

If you haven't already, go to www.semroc.com and just poke around a while. You *may* like what you find.

I've been there. I'll be back...

The construction of the Pegasus is much simpler than I expected... alignment guide? Who needs them! But I'm not looking to replicate it. Rather, I'm collecting details for a series of "exotic-lite" models I plan to build. Right after I build and fly the Cyclone unicopter...

Yet.
